You have nailed the job interview and it’s the first day in your new job, Lisa shares some top tips to make your first day memorable for all of the right reasons:

It’s your first day on the job, impressions count. Here are a few top tips to help make that crucial day a success:

Appearance

Do you look like you mean business? Clean shoes, ironed clothes, hair brushed etc. It may seem obvious but you will be surprised how many people overlook this detail – first impressions are lasting.

Location

Find out whether you can park on-site in advance. The last thing you need on your first day is driving around trying to find somewhere to park.

Time

Arrive well in advance on your first day. Know your timetable inside out, when the day starts/finishes, break times, length of classes etc.

Get your bearings

Familiarise yourself with the layout; class locations, toilets, canteen, photocopiers, staff room etc. Do a walkabout around the campus if you get chance during the day.

Enjoy

Most importantly, enjoy your day. This is your time to shine and show the College/Training Provider why you are the right person for the job.

Drop a call to your consultant at the Recruitment agency and update them on your first day. Any issues can be tackled immediately.
