Teaching English can open up a world of opportunities – quite literally.
Our Level 5 Trinity Cert TESOL course can give you the internationally-recognised qualification you need to teach English to speakers of other languages.
The course is perfect if you’re planning a career break or you're planning to take a gap year, travel the world and you're looking to earning some extra cash by teaching English. Alternatively, you could become an English language tutor, hosting and teaching students from the comfort of your own home.
Either way, you can study the course on a part-time basis, just one day a week for 22 weeks.
The great thing about the course is that you don’t need any knowledge of grammar or previous experience in teaching. Our experienced tutors will teach you everything you need to know about the English language and help you gain practical teaching experience in a supportive environment. We will even teach you the basics of a foreign language so you can gain an insight into what it is like to be a beginner learning another language.
What’s more, you can now apply for an Advanced Learner Loan of up to £800, to help cover the cost of the course.
If you're still undecided, here are 8 more reasons to study this course:
1. Learning is fun
No matter your age, learning something new can give you a great deal of satisfaction. Not only will you learn effective teaching techniques, but you will also be able to learn everything you need to know about the English language and understand what it’s like to be a beginner learning another language.
2. A great way to make new friends
Starting a new course will give you the opportunity to meet lots of great people. This Cert TESOL is no different. At the start of the course you will meet people with similar interests to you. Then over the 22 weeks you will work together, share teaching practices, and perhaps make some life-long friends.
3. Earn money in the UK
The Cert TESOL qualifies you to teach English to non-English speakers, meaning you will be able to take up teaching roles at local language schools. Alternatively, you may choose to benefit from the booming tourism industry in the south east of England by hosting and teaching international students in your own home.
4. Gain a qualification to boost earning power abroad
All language schools pay teachers according to their qualifications and experience. By completing this course and acquiring the qualification, you will be able to boost your teaching salary. If you choose to live abroad, for example in Australia, this could mean the difference between earning just enough to pay the rent, and earning a qualified teacher’s salary, enabling you to travel around and really experience the country you’re working in.
5. Take a break from your normal job/career
This qualification could be just the ticket you need to take a break from your normal job or career. If you fancy getting away from it all and trying your hand at something different, then you can. Whether you want to stay in the UK or travel abroad, this qualification is internationally recognised so you will be able to teach English wherever you like.
6. Travel the world
This qualification could be a gateway to seeing and experiencing lots of different countries and cultures. Newly qualified teachers from this course have gone on to have amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experiences teaching in Europe and Asia.
If you have the travel bug, then there would be no reason why you couldn’t visit as many countries as you can, earning money teaching English to fund your trip.
7. A first step to becoming a teacher
If you have always dreamed of becoming a teacher, then this course could be a good place to start. The great thing about the Cert TESOL is that you don’t need any knowledge of grammar or previous experience in teaching. But once you have these skills, your increased confidence would put you in a good position to go on and study to become a full-time teacher in a primary or secondary school or further education college.
8. The world is learning English
It is thought that 2 billion people will be studying English by 2020, meaning there is a huge opportunity for English teachers. Countries across the globe, from Latin America to Asia will need English teachers. According to the International TEFL Academy, an estimated 250,000 native English speakers work as English teachers abroad in more than 40,000 schools and language institutes around the world. China and South Korea hire approximately 1,000 new English teachers every month.
