From education to employment

Business Students Join Sky Recruitment Solutions Academy

Sky Recruitment Solutions in Derby and Ripley have expanded its Employer Academy with Derby College to showcase the career opportunities available to students in the industry.

Thirteen Business students based at the Roundhouse have joined the Sky Recruitment Solutions Academy, headed by Managing Director David Torrington.

Having applied and been accepted onto the Academy, the students will now take part in special projects and benefit from work experience at the company.

David Torrington explained: “Some of the Business students who joined the Employer Academy when it was originally launched earlier this year have re-signed and have been joined by other first year students.

“Although many of the students had heard of recruitment, many were unclear about the processes that we do to match the right people with the right job and to source candidates for employers looking for new staff.

“I therefore wanted to expand the employer academy to provide more students with the opportunity to better understand all aspects of a business which they will find useful in their future working lives.

“Therefore, as well as learning more about the recruitment industry, they will have the opportunity to put what they have learnt at College into practice from managing finances to sales and marketing.

“The long-term aim is to offer apprenticeship opportunities to students who are interested in this industry at the end of their study programmes.”

“Derby College Deputy Principal April Hayhurst concluded: “We are delighted that David and the Sky Recruitment Solutions team have recognised the value of the Employer Academy programme.

“These unique partnerships between forward-thinking employers in a wide range of sectors and Derby College has gained widespread recognition for bridging the gap between education and the workplace – equipping students with the skills and attitudes they need to be successful in their future careers.”
