Making Tax Digital for VAT: Barnsley College prepares businesses with free event

Businesses across the region are invited to attend a free networking event to find out how to prepare for the introduction of new financial reforms in April 2019.

The informal event takes place on Wednesday 12 December, 8.00am to 10.00am in The Open Kitchen, Barnsley College, Church Street, Barnsley, S70 2AX.

Attendees will hear from Paul Hinchliffe, Partner, and Jon Taylor, Cloud Accounting Manager at Harris+Co, who will explain what Making Tax Digital for VAT is, how it will affect you, what you can do to ensure your business is ready and what software packages will make your journey to Making Tax Digital for VAT as smooth as possible. They will also demonstrate some of the features these packages offer which make bookkeeping much simpler than it used to be.

Suzan McGladdery, Director of Business Development at Barnsley College, will provide an apprenticeship update. This will be a chance for employers interested in taking on an apprentice, or who already have apprentices, to find out more about funding reforms, new apprenticeship standards and how the College can help them recruit an apprentice or up-skill their existing workforce. Attendees will also have the opportunity to take a tour of the College’s facilities and network with other businesses.

Suzan said: “Events like these are really important for the College to demonstrate how we support employers to keep abreast of changes that may affect their business.

“We look forward to welcoming all attendees to this event to enjoy breakfast whilst informing them of further opportunities to grow their business either by recruiting an apprentice or developing their workforce skills.”

Places are limited, so businesses are being encouraged to book via Eventbrite. Alternatively, employers can reserve a place by contacting the Marketing, Communications and PR team on 01226 216 833 or by email
