Barnsley College has been awarded Champions College Gold status

Barnsley College is celebrating after being awarded Champions College Gold status for its commitment and support of the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme during 2017/18.

NCS is a four week programme delivered by Barnsley Football Club through the English Football League Trust and is an opportunity for teenagers to experience something new, meet people, learn new skills and give back to their community.

Hannah McCarthy, Sport Tutorial Team Leader at Barnsley College, said: “On behalf of Barnsley College it was a pleasure to attend the NCS Champion Schools and Colleges event at the Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster.

“We have received the Gold College status as 160 students from the Sport, Public Services and Travel and Tourism department have successfully graduated from the programme. Our students have a fantastic time and it’s wonderful to see them returning to College having developed vital life and employability skills that greatly benefit their studies.”
