Inaugural SET Conference triumphs at 2018 Association Awards

The Society of Education and Training’s (SET’s) inaugural annual conference was named as the Best Conference Development at the 2018 Association Awards. The conference, titled Pride in Professionalism, took place at Birmingham’s Vox Conference Centre on 7 November. Details, including photographs, are available on the SET website.

Announcing the award, the judges praised SET for running such a successful event, despite only having six months to plan and execute it, and doing so almost entirely in-house.

Martin Reid, Director of the Society for Education and Training, said:

“The primary indicator of any event is the feedback of its delegates and we were pleased that was overwhelmingly positive with attendees expressing high satisfaction and stating it will impact positively on their professional lives. This award, which is conferred by experts from across the professional association sector, is the icing on the cake.

“In planning this event we consulted widely across Further Education and Training, carrying out research and engaging experts to ensure that it met the needs of the profession. We are now planning the second SET Annual Conference, which will take place at the same venue on 6 November 2019. We are confident that it will be even better than this year’s event.”

Organised by The Association of Association Executives, the awards recognise excellence in a range of activities carried out by professional associations, including recruitment, campaigns, communications and engagement. They are judged by a panel of influential association leaders and specialists

The winners were presented with their awards at a ceremony in London on 18 December.
