NATIONAL CAREERS WEEK 2019 LAUNCHES IN PARLIAMENT #NCW2019

NATIONAL CAREERS WEEK 2019 #NCW2019

Celebrating its 8th national event dedicated to promoting quality careers advice in schools and colleges, National Careers Week (NCW) is kick-starting its launch at the House of Commons on Monday 4th March.

Supported by charities, government, and the private sector – NCW is bringing together the education sector and businesses with an aim to promote valuable careers information to young people.

In the largest week for all-inclusive careers activities in 2018, NCW reached over 500,000 young people and worked with more than 2,000 schools across the UK to help empower students to make better informed choices when deciding their future careers.

Run by a collection of passionate volunteers and supported by an army of helpers up and down the UK, NCW is proof that a small group of motivated people can change the education and careers landscape for the better.

Supported by RBS, NCW has been able to produce and share a library of best practice careers resources online to assist schools and colleges throughout National Careers Week, all mapped against Gatsby Benchmarks and all free of charge.

This week will see hundreds of careers events taking place in primary and secondary schools, 6th forms, FE colleges and Universities – all on a joint mission to raise awareness of the careers available to young people.

Nick Newman, Founder of National Careers Week, said:

“Every year we reach more people with our quality free resources. The passionate careers professionals who volunteer their time to ensure young people get access to important careers resources are a unique phenomenon – we are a careers family and growing larger every year. I am extremely proud to see the positive difference we are making”.

Robert Halfon 100x100Robert Halfon MP, Chair of the House of Commons Education Select Committee, said:

“National Careers Week is a brilliant grassroots careers organisation promoting and boosting the prestige of careers and careers advice across the country. If you do one thing during the week  of 4th March, give NCW a shout out. I congratulate Nick and all those involved. They really show what is possible for the future of careers education.”

Steve Nash100x100Steve Nash, Chief Executive at the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI), said:

”As the professional body for individuals working in automotive, we at the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) place great store by high quality careers advice for both young people and their parents. This is the only way they can truly understand the many excellent opportunities available in a sector like ours.
“We are delighted to partner with the team at National Careers Week who work tirelessly to raise the profile of those whose aim is to help young people with the key decisions about their future.”
