From education to employment

Nisai Group, NOCN and PTB collaborate to establish the regional centre of excellence in education in Brunei, Darussalam

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Nisai Group Ltd of the United Kingdom (Nisai) and local company Syarikat Pakar Tenaga Bersatu (PTB) for an agreed collaboration to the establishment of a Nisai Branch in Brunei Darussalam.

The Nisai Brunei branch, once in operation, is expected to cater for Nisai’s clients from all countries across the ASEAN region including China and Japan as well as several countries in the Middle East to offer an alternative approach of learning through a virtual platform for academic Cambridge International IGCSEs and A Levels subjects.

Through its strategic partnership with the National Open College Network (NOCN) of the United Kingdom, vocational and work-based programmes could also be delivered online.

The signing took place during the Royal Institution 14th Global Congress and Conferment Event held this afternoon at the Empire Hotel and Country Club, Brunei Darussalam, to which the senior officers of both Nisai and PTB are members of the Royal Institution.

The proposed Brunei Regional Hub is expected to recruit and employ at least 15 Bruneians, in its preliminary stage, to be given teacher/mentor training in order to serve and address learning requirements of Nisai’s clients. Local technical and vocational trainers too will be selected to become trainers and assessors for the Technical and Vocational blended learning courses.

Dhruv Patel, CEO of Nisai Group commented:

“What first attracted me the most to establish the regional hub in Brunei Darussalam was the high standard of proficiency of the Bruneians understanding and conversing in the English Language as well as its education system is based on the UK educational system.”

Graham Hasting-Evans, Managing Director of NOCN said on the collaboration:

“The creation of a regional centre in Brunei strengthens further the ongoing relationship between NOCN and Nisai and widens NOCN’s reach overseas”

PTB’s Managing Director Pg Hishamuddin Alli remarked:

“PTB is committed into providing means for career development and progression for its trainees and not just skills to get a job. We look into providing career development as part of life-long learning and increasing productivity through various programmes for companies as well as for the workforce in Brunei Darussalam”.
