Bradford College students learned how their careers could take off in the tourism industry during a talk from Jet2.com.

Amanda Kay, who is a Brand Champion for Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, spoke about the wide range of career opportunities offered by Jet2, which is one of the region’s leading employers.

The event was attended by students on the Hospitality and Travel Management degree as well as those studying Travel and Tourism and from engineering courses.

The students were advised about the wide range of roles on offer at the Leeds-based business such as cabin crew, airport ground operations, marketing, customer service and IT. They were also given a valuable insight into the application and interview process and how they can increase their chances of succeeding in what is a competitive job market.

Kirsty Beckett, a lecturer in Travel and Tourism, said: “The students gained a lot of information from Amanda which I am sure will help them with their applications, not just to Jet2 but with other hospitality and travel organisations too.

“Talks from industry experts such as this are designed to enrich the students’ learning and allow them to connect what we talk about in the classroom to the real world and the industry that they are looking to enter.

“We have a good network of employers that we work with for guest lectures and to provide work placements for students which are also invaluable.”

Student Jodie Ellis said the talk had helped her focus on “progressing from her course to a career”.
