From education to employment

Tameside College is number one in Greater Manchester

Tameside College, including Clarendon Sixth Form College, is the number one further education provider in Greater Manchester, according to data provided by the Department for Education (DfE March 2019).

The college is ranked as the best FE college for both 16-18 year olds and apprenticeships. The national college achievement rates, which were released in March 2019, show that the college is also the ninth best in the UK for 16-18 performance from 270 FE colleges nationally.

Over the past three years, Tameside College has made significant improvements, receiving an Ofsted ‘Good’ rating in 2018. The college also opened a brand new campus in March 2019, bringing a state-of-the-art learning environment into the heart of Ashton-under-Lyne town centre.

Jackie Moores, principal at Tameside College and Clarendon Sixth Form College, said:

“I am delighted that the college has been ranked as number one in Greater Manchester. The hard work and dedication of staff members has transformed the college and we can proudly say that we provide the best possible experience for our students. We will always strive to improve and continue to progress on our journey to Ofsted ‘Outstanding’. Young people who are leaving school can study locally, at the best college in Greater Manchester for full time study programmes or as an apprentice.”
