From education to employment

Hard work at Barking & Dagenham College rewarded

A group of sport students were rewarded for excellent attendance, punctuality and hard work with a trip to a theme park.

Businesses often use staff rewards to help motivation and the College’s sport department felt it would be beneficial if they followed their lead.

Sports tutor Ikram Chowdhury explains:

“We wanted to reward the learners for their great work and attitude. They all showed excellent attendance, punctuality and their behaviour within college has been exceptional. These students are also producing good quality work and meeting deadlines.

“We felt as a department that taking the learners on a fun day out will continue to motivate them and encourage them to continue their good work.”

Many of the students hadn’t visited a theme park before.

17 year old sport student Holly Speller from Dagenham especially enjoyed this day out, as she stated: “My trip to Thorpe Park, with the College, was a new experience for me as I have never been before. It was good to go with another class because it gave us all a chance to meet new people.

For me, it was an opportunity to socialise with new people and be in a place where I could be independent and act like an adult. It was also a lot of fun!”
