From education to employment

SERC Students are Strokes Ahead with New Partnership

A new partnership between Northern Community Leisure Trust (NCLT) and South Eastern Regional College (SERC) is set to give students a major advantage in gaining relevant experience in the leisure industry.

Heather McKee, Director of Strategic Planning, Quality and Support said, “It is essential that students pursuing employment or higher education courses can show that they have experience or knowledge of their chosen industry. This partnership gives SERC students a clear advantage to gain experience which they can use to support applications when competing for a job or a place at university.

“We are delighted to be working with Northern Community Leisure Trust in what we believe is a beneficial partnership for all involved. The partnership also means increased awareness of what the College has to offer potential students in the local community and the support we provide to give them the edge before they finish their course and take their next steps into employment or further qualifications.”

Gordon Pennock, Partnerships Manager, Northern Community Leisure Trust said, “In recent times the NCLT has identified opportunities to collaborate with SERC in the areas of work-based learning, volunteering and apprenticeships. We are currently developing some new initiatives that will be of benefit to both the students and our employees. We are pleased to be working in partnership with SERC.”

SERC offers a range of sport and recreation, public service and hospitality and catering programmes ranging from level 2 and 3 through to foundation degree and HND level from which many students progress to work in the leisure sector or secure places at university.
