South Eastern Regional College (SERC) is hosting an Apprenticeship Job Fair at the College’s Bangor Campus on Thursday 20 June from 5:30pm-7:30pm. The event will offer visitors the chance to meet potential employers face-to-face and discover what apprenticeships opportunities are available in the local area.
Organised by SERC’s Training Organisation in conjunction with local employers, the Apprentice Recruitment Fair offers school leavers or anyone thinking of taking on an Apprenticeship, the chance to find out more about local apprenticeship opportunities commencing from September 2019.
Victoria Boyd, Training Programme Manager said, “The event will promote the range of apprenticeship options available through the College for young people and is suitable for both A Level and GCSE school leavers. We plan to showcase the opportunities available in the local area to make people aware of the the huge variety of apprenticeships on offer in their community from Level 2 and 3 through to Higher-Level Apprenticeships.
“We are delighted that local employers including, George Adams Engineering, Camlin, Four Seasons, Specialisterne Salty Dog Bistro and McKees Farm Shop who offer engineering, health and social care, hospitality and catering apprenticeships, will be on hand to talk about what’s available and what it is like to work in their organisations.
She added, “The apprenticeship route is a growing area for young people. We are finding that for many young people, being employed, earning money and continuing with their studies is much more attractive route in getting them to where they want to be career-wise. Apprentices are usually with the employer four days a week, learning on the job and either attend College or receive teaching in the workplace one day a week to consolidate their learning.
“SERC also offer a range of Higher-Level Apprenticeships for students completing their A levels such as computing, accounting, mechatronics, automotive management, leadership and management, leadership for children’s care, learning and development, manufacturing and gas management.”
SERC’s Careers Advisors will also be on hand to offer independent expert advice for those still undecided about which route to take and help with interview techniques and compiling a CV.
