From education to employment

Barnsley College holds Esports Open Event

Barnsley College’s Sport department is launching a new Esports, Enterprise and Entrepreneurship course, and potential students are invited to an Open Event to find out more on Wednesday 26 June, 6.00pm to 8.00pm.

Visitors to the Open Event will have the opportunity to speak to Sports tutors to find out more about the course, enrol on the day and find out what financial support is available to them.

Esports (electronic sports) is competitive video gaming. Tournaments usually consist of amateur or professional gamers competing against one another.

This two year full-time course provides an in-depth study of the sector and could lead to progression to Higher Education and employment in key areas of the industry such as: Business, Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Coaching, Leadership, Events Management, Production and Journalism.

Kalam Neale, Sport Curriculum Leader, said: “Esports is a fast growing industry that engages millions of people worldwide and we are excited to offer students the chance to explore the sector further. Our Esports Open Event is an opportunity for students, parents and guardians to find out about the courses, progression and career prospects. We will also be running some taster sessions on the night too.”
