The e-learning industry is rapidly expanding and is causing disruptions to the world of education – forecasts show that it will be worth $325BN by 2025, with millions of people across the globe making use of such online learning services.

To highlight the industry’s popularity, CPD Standards Office has analysed the world's largest library of online courses, Udemy, to create the Unique E-learning League – celebrating the 10 highest-earning unusual courses on the market.

The top two spaces on the Unique E-learning League table are taken up by some of the webs most inimitable yet desirable courses:

  • ‘Learn The Secrets of Zombie Apocalypse Preparedness’, which has grossed almost £1m from 4,662 students and promises to help individuals survive an undead nightmare; and
  • ‘Selfie Masterclass: How to click perfect Selfies’, which aims to help students take their Instagram skills to the next level.

Other subjects within the top ten include courses on American slang, dance floor confidence, communicating with animals and even building your own lightsaber!

The most popular course on the list is ‘Dog Training: Train your dog to walk on a treadmill’, which has amassed 4,668 students and an average 4.5 star rating.

Amanda Rosewarne of The CPD Standards Office said of the Unique E-learning League:

“Online learning resources can be incredibly valuable to so many people, thanks to their accessibility and affordability. It’s therefore very encouraging to see that such a great number of people are interested in researching some of the more unique and un-traditional subjects, choosing to build upon their curiosities or perhaps find an alternative route into a career they are truly passionate about.”

The CPD Standards Office aims to support everyone involved in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) by providing independent accreditation and best practice measures to help improve the industry and ensure a regulated standard of courses across the world.

Udemy is the leading global marketplace for learning and instruction – with 100K different courses, Udemy reaches over 30M students and helps to transform their lives by connecting them with experienced instructors from across the planet.
