Hurco Engineering celebrate opening event at Kirklees College

Kirklees College’s partnership with CNC machine tooling technologist Hurco is growing from strength to strength as it recently welcomed the company to its engineering centre to celebrate the opening of Hurco’s new training centre. 

The event which took place on Wednesday 3 July marked the installation of an additional four WinMax dual-screen consoles to be used within the classroom area of the facility as well as a face-lift of the current three Hurco machine tools already in situ.

The event saw a total of 19 visitors from 12 companies attend, with a mixture of students, keen to learn about manufacturing methods and experienced Hurco users keen to see the latest technology. Local engineering businesses from the area were also keen to understand how the joint venture between Hurco and Kirklees College can benefit their apprentices.

The training partnership with Kirklees College ensures a permenant base for Hurco to run training classes in a convenient location close to their customer base and gives Kirklees College a range of machines available for student use, education, cutting trials and demonstrations.

Kirklees College prides itself in its ability to provide engineering apprentices with the type of vocational training that industry requires and thanks to this technology sharing partnership, is bridging the gap between the world of engineering and education. 

Cliff Hodgkinson, northern area sales manager for Hurco, summed up his experience: “The Open Day proved to be a huge success. The makeover to the training facilities looked very professional and definitely made an impact on our customers. 

We were able to demonstrate our machines abilities and from this event have already booked up two training courses over the coming weeks. We are looking forward to doing an increasing number of demonstrations and training events at this facility.”
