PHX Training gets vote of confidence from Ofsted

Skills and training provider PHX Training has been given a shot in the arm with praise from government watchdog Ofsted whose inspectors examined the quality of its apprenticeships and adult learning services.

Inspectors looked at three key themes including leadership, the quality and outcomes of the training provided as well as safeguarding – and praised the company for the progress it has made.

Head of Quality at PHX Training Tracy Terry said: “This is great news. We have the services and level of skills to deliver high-quality apprenticeships and learning and it’s a confidence boost for our team to know that Ofsted is comfortable with us and how we are conducting our training”

PHX managing director Briony Fawcett said: “It’s particularly pleasing when the independent inspectors praise us for the standard of our training. This is testament to the hard work put in by everyone across the organisation at all levels and I’d like to thank them for their efforts.”

The inspection report said: “Apprentices benefit from high-quality well-coordinated on-and off-the-job training. Apprentices undertake relevant vocational training and additional short courses, organised by their employer, that further develop their understanding of their role.

“Assessors support and challenge apprentices to develop the applied English and mathematics skills needed for the workplace, often beyond the minimum requirements of the apprenticeship framework.”

PHX Training delivers apprenticeship qualifications in business administration skills, offering learners skills for roles such as office executive, office supervisor, membership administrator and personal administrator. Apprenticeships delivered by PHX also include team leading, customer service, hospitality, management and warehousing across the North West.

The company also provides the new employability practitioner standard level four, which has been designed to help develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours of those helping people to address and overcome obstacles to secure suitable and sustainable employment.

As well as apprenticeship training, PHX Training delivers government-backed initiatives, adult skills, NEET (not in education, employment or training), employability contracts and work-based learning programmes.

The PHX team of qualified trainers also deliver a diverse range of resources including offline, online and face-to-face services at six training centres in Barrow, Carlisle, Workington, Morecambe, Preston and Blackpool.
