Durham University Business School secures triple five-year re-accreditation success

Durham University Business School has secured a five-year extension to the accreditation of its business education programmes, awarded by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

The news follows two further five-year extensions to the School’s accreditations awarded by the Association of MBAs (AMBA) and EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), secured in 2018 and 2017 respectively. This “triple-crown” of accreditations is held by only 1% of business schools globally, placing Durham University Business School’s business education programmes amongst the best and most reputable in the world.

Professor Susan Hart, Executive Dean of Durham University Business School, said:

“The AACSB re-accreditation, when added to our existing AMBA and EQUIS accreditations, is testimony to our position as a leading international business school. These awards demonstrate the School’s excellence across our key strategic areas of research, education and student experience, and our commitment to continuous improvement. Holding such accreditations assures applicants worldwide we offer them a truly valuable and diverse educational experience.”

The AACSB accreditation demonstrates the School is committed to upholding, and advancing, the quality of its undergraduate and postgraduate education. The AACSB peer review team took particular note of the quality Durham demonstrated in its significant, high-quality teaching and research, and commented on the School’s success in “bringing external business to campus for student engagement activities” and connecting “international students with their local potential employers”.

Professor Stuart Corbridge, Vice-Chancellor and Warden at Durham University, said:

“Achieving triple re-accreditation is a credit to everyone across the Business School and confirms the School is well on the way to becoming a top 20 European Business School. I was delighted to see the AACSB review panel acknowledge the growth plans of the University and School, including how the proposed new state-of-the-art Business School building will play an important role in maintaining excellence and attracting staff and students.”
