Newtown College catering student lands top job at world-famous Savoy Hotel

Newtown College catering student Alice Yeoman has landed a job in the world-famous Savoy Hotel, London.  The hotel in the heart of London is renowned for sublime service and sophistication.

Alice, who studied Level 3 Catering at the college, visited The Savoy with the intention of finding out more about work opportunities, whilst there she struck up a conversation with a member of the events and management team who showed great interest in Alice and her achievements to date.  On application to the hotel, she was quickly shortlisted and offered an interview. Alice was thrilled to have been successful. ‘I am so lucky to have got my dream job so soon after completing college’ said Alice.

Head of Catering at NPTC Group of Colleges Sue Lloyd Jones said ‘Alice impressed us all on the catering team. She showed great ambition having been the only Welsh finalist in the respected national WorldSkills UK competition competing against the UK’s top junior Culinary Arts specialists from across the UK and we are delighted for her’.

Lecturer Shaun Bailey added ‘Catering jobs in the most prestigious venues are particularly sought after and it’s a credit to Alice’s positive attitude, ambition and all the hard work she has put in at college that she has been rewarded with this great opportunity’.

Previously Alice remarked that she ‘highly recommend Newtown College Catering department to any prospective young person that has a passion for catering and culinary arts’.  And she also encouraged students to get involved in competition adding ‘be brave just do it. Thank you so much to all the staff that have supported me at Newtown College’.

Best of luck Alice from all at NPTC Group of Colleges.
