Students celebrate 99% GCSE pass rate at City of London Academy Highgate Hill

The hard work of pupils at City of London Academy Highgate Hill paid off today (22/08) as students gained a 99% pass rate in their GCSE results.

58% of pupils at the academy received Grade 4+ in English and maths (equivalent to A*- C Grades)

This year 10% more students achieved grades 5 and above compared to last year. Since the school became an academy sponsored by the City of London Corporation, the number of students achieving a ‘strong pass’ has increased by nearly 20%.

The school opened as a mixed, all-ability, non-denominational academy in September 2017, inheriting students in years 8 to 11 from what was previously, Mount Carmel Catholic College for Girls.

The school was adopted into the City of London Academies Trust, which runs the City of London Corporation’s sole sponsored academies, in 2018.

Klaudia was a casual transfer and joined us in Year 8. Klaudia was born in Poland and when she joined us her spoken English was quite limited. But she had a wonderful eagerness to learn. As a result of her tenacity her language quickly developed.She made friends easily and soon became a valued member of the school community. Her efforts were rewarded when she was elected as a student prefect in Year 10.Klaudia was also awarded as the 2018 MiSST Musician of the Year and was presented with her award and a new violin by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Yanet has spent the entirety of her secondary education with us. Her dedication to her academic studies has been unwavering and she has aimed for excellence since the very beginning.Her contributions to academy life have set a great example to our younger student body. In recognition of this Yanet was elected as a student prefect in Year 10.
