Brecon Beacons College staff brave the challenge of Wales’s highest peaks

Ain’t no Mountain High Enough

Three members of staff from Brecon Beacons College braved the challenge of walking up Wales’s highest peaks. Tina Davies, Jenny Morgan both Refectory staff and Clare Cluer, ILT Development Officer all put on their hiking boots to tackle the peaks from the 6th-8th September. Both Tina and Jenny ascended Pen Y Fan on the Thursday with Clare being unable to complete this stage due to weather conditions.

All three made their way to Llywn Y Helm campsite in North Wales ready for their two-day challenge, with the first being Snowdon. Tina said: “We don’t have many clear days, we couldn’t have wished for a better day for it, and I loved it.” The next day saw the hike to Cader Idris with Tina having a fall on the way down and Clare adding: “This was one of the hardest, with me sobbing at the top once we had made it.”

Jenny said: “It was brilliant, I really enjoyed myself surrounded by friends and laughter.”

The trio were cheered on by fellow Brecon Beacons College staff who gave them the encouragement to achieve this challenge.

Clare added: “From going to weekly boot camp sessions with Sports Science lecturer Rhian Davies, I think I became more prepared as I felt fit enough to do it.”
