Tameside College opens its doors to construction industry

Tameside College hosts its annual construction open day on Friday 18th October.

The event aims to keep employers in the construction industry aware of key changes in the sector including funding for Apprenticeships. Visitors will also be able to take part in demonstrations of tools and equipment from leading suppliers to the sector as well as meeting students in skills shows.

Tameside College will present updates on its state-of-the-art construction centre which will open in December 2020. The new £10 million facility will provide leading training technology for a growing construction sector that requires a diverse range of skills.

Employers are invited to attend breakfast or lunchtime briefings where they can find out, from expert speakers, more about funding initiatives such as Pathways to Construction and Apprenticeship levy funds. They will also be able to view plans for the new campus.

Carl Shaw, curriculum leader, said:

“The construction open day is aimed at employers in the sector. It gives us the opportunity to find out what employers really need. We have been able to tailor initiatives for employers such as the Pathways to Construction fund through this event. The investment in the new construction centre shows Tameside College’s commitment to developing a top class workforce for Greater Manchester.”
