NCFE wins contracts to deliver six of nine #TLevel pathways

Leading awarding organisation wins contract to develop T Levels for Digital Business Services, Digital Support Services, Health, Healthcare Science and Science T Levels

NCFE is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the contract by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (the Institute), to be the delivery partner for five new T Levels in Digital Business Services, Digital Support Services, Health, Healthcare Science and Science T Levels.

In February this year, NCFE was also awarded the contract to deliver the Education and Childcare T Level qualification from September 2020, building on a long history of providing gold standard qualifications through CACHE the leading specialist for the education and childcare sector.

NCFE will now work with the Institute to develop and design six of the first nine of the Department for Educationā€™s new flagship T Level qualifications ā€“ placing the charity and education services provider at the forefront of the technical education revolution, working to ensure that the UK has a world-class technical education system.

These qualifications will form part of the second wave of T Levels alongside other pathways in the construction sector to be offered from September 2021. Under the reforms, learners will be able to study technical qualifications within 15 new technical industry focused ā€˜routesā€™ designed to prepare them for careers or further study in a specific sector.

NCFE will now be delivering qualifications across three of the four new technical education routes launched so far, in Childcare and Education, Health and Science and Digital.

Stewart Foster, Chief Operating Officer at NCFE said:

ā€œWe are absolutely delighted that NCFE has been awarded this new contract by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education to be the delivery partner for the Digital Business Services, Digital Support Services, Health, Healthcare Science and Science T Levels.

ā€œThis will build on our current work with the Institute in delivering the Education and Childcare T Level in 2020 and enable us to support the FE sector to deliver these new pathways from 2021. Our core purpose is to promote and advance learning for all and to be at the forefront of this revolution in technical education means we can continue to support thousands of learners across England to progress and succeed.ā€

Sir Gerry Berragan, Chief Executive of the Institute, said:

ā€œIā€™m delighted that the contracts are now signed for the second wave of T Levels. NCFE and City & Guilds are both respected awarding organisations with a wealth of experience who I am sure will do an excellent job preparing T Levels for delivery in classrooms across the country.ā€

Julie Hyde, Director at NCFE said:

ā€œWe are delighted that NCFE has been selected as the delivery partner for a further five T Levels as part of the second wave. It is fantastic to be at the forefront of delivering these exciting reforms ā€“ ensuring that the value of technical education is recognised and that learners gain well-respected qualifications that truly prepare them for success in the workplace or the next steps in their education.

ā€œNCFE is well-known for collaboratively developing high-quality sector led qualifications, designed by employers for employers. Helping the healthcare, health and science sectors through CACHE, to develop and maintain the skilled workforce that plays such a vital role in our society. We look forward to working closely with all our existing partners and stakeholders who are key to successful development of our truly sector led robust qualifications.

“We are also thrilled to be the delivery partner for the two digital routes, equipping learners with the skills they need to develop successful careers in this exciting and rapidly evolving sector that will be so crucial for businesses to help fill their skills gaps.ā€

T Levels signify a big change in technical education as they will become one of the main choices for students post-16, alongside A levels and apprenticeships. Equivalent to 3 A levels, the 2-year courses have been developed in collaboration with employers and businesses to ensure the content prepares learners for the world of work and meets industry needs. They will offer learners a mixture of classroom learning and industry placement with the first 3 routes being delivered from September 2020.
