Kirklees College take over Huddersfield Town Football Club!

Students and staff from Kirklees College are taking over the Huddersfield Town Football Club match against Yorkshire rivals Barnsley FC at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday 26 October 2019.

The aim of the event is to showcase some of the 300+ courses on offer at the college, as well as raise money for the Royal British Legion. Fun family activities will be taking place throughout the stadium both before the match and at half time.

Students from Kirklees College will be gaining valuable work experience including stewarding, working in the Huddersfield Town Megastore and also within the catering areas. They will also be showcasing some of their skills gained in college.

The team from the Kirklees College Taylor Hill Animal Centre will be bringing along some of their animals for people to handle, and students from Hair and Beauty will be working their face painting magic on the fans.

There will be the chance to pit your wits against Kirklees College sports students in our ‘Beat the Goalie’ challenge and battle it out on the range of giant games including table football, Jenga and Connect 4.

For all the dog lovers out there, Kirklees College is introducing a limited edition pet bandana to the Megastore. Make your four legged friend the ultimate Terrier supporter with a bandana on sale for £3 on the day, with a proportion of proceeds being donated to the British Legion. Fans are being encouraged to take photos of their pets wearing the blue bandana’s and post on social media using the hashtag #kctowntakeover.

Don’t forget you can also buy your remembrance poppy at the game to wear on Armistice Day, which will be held on Sunday 11 November to mark 101 years since the end of WWI. College poppy sellers will be around the stadium throughout the day.

The takeover event also highlights upcoming open days at Kirklees College, promotes adult community courses and will also launch the Pioneer Higher Skills Centre which is opening in Dewsbury in June 2020.

Kirklees College open days are on Saturday 16 November, 10.30am – 12.30pm at all Huddersfield Centres and Tuesday 26 November, 5.30-7.30pm at Dewsbury Centres. They offer a chance to tour the facilities, speak to curriculum staff and find out about the wide range of courses on offer at Kirklees College, including full time and part time courses and apprenticeships.
