Shaw Education Trust plans for future growth with new digital HR and payroll system

Shaw Education Trust is undertaking a digital transformation of its HR and payroll processes in partnership with industry specialists MHR to accommodate its future growth.

The Staffordshire based multi academy trust, which oversees 19 schools and academies across the Midlands and North West, has invested in MHR’s leading cloud-based HR and payroll solution iTrent as part of a project to replace its manual systems with new digital processes.

The new system will transform the way Shaw Education Trust manages its 1500 employees located across multiple sites with the integration of core processes, such as HR, recruitment, payroll and absences, enabling the trust to gain a centralised view of its people.

Automation of many repetitive manual tasks will enable key processes to be performed much quicker, with employees empowered to access and take ownership of their own personal data via self-service functionality.

The project will also see the education trust embrace data analytics to gain valuable insights into its performance and generate accurate reports on gender pay, payroll and absences.

Helen Turner, COO at Shaw Education Trust says:

“Our rapid growth over the past few years has meant we have simply outgrown our current processes, and to meet our future business needs it has become increasingly clear that we need to adopt digital ways of working.

“MHR has an excellent reputation for delivering effective software and payroll services to the education sector and we’re excited about the implementation of iTrent, and the efficiencies it will generate.

“Bringing our HR and payroll back in house will give us greater control of our people, while new streamlined processes will make us more efficient and free up valuable resource to focus on what we do best, delivering quality education which enables our pupils to reach their full potential.”

Anton Roe, CEO at MHR comments:

“We’re pleased to welcome Shaw Education Trust to our growing number of education customers as it looks to embrace digital ways of working.

“By consolidating its people processes and adopting more digital methods of working through iTrent, Shaw Education Trust will benefit from faster processes and a single unified view of its entire workforce, enabling them to make better informed strategic decisions.

“MHR’s iTrent provides the perfect platform to support the trust’s growth and we look forward to discovering the efficiency gains achieved as the new processes bed in.”
