Mae Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe wedi cyrraedd y rhestr fer mewn pedwar categori yng Ngwobrau clodfawr AB TES 2020.

Mae’r gwobrau yn gyfle i ddathlu ymroddiad ac arbenigedd pobl a thimau sydd wedi gwneud cyfraniadau sylweddol i wella sgiliau pobl ifanc ac oedolion sy’n ddysgwyr.

Mae Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe wedi cyrraedd y rhestr fer yn y categorïau canlynol:

1. Coleg Addysg Bellach y flwyddyn
Dros y blynyddoedd diwethaf, mae’r Coleg wedi gweld twf sylweddol sydd wedi arwain at lefelau uchel o fuddsoddiadau mewn pobl, offer ac ystadau. Cafodd y buddsoddiadau yma eu cyflawni wrth sicrhau lefel uchel o ansawdd.

Er enghraifft, mae cofrestriadau amser llawn wedi cynyddu yn sylweddol ac yn 2019, (er bod saith ysgol i ddisgyblion chweched dosbarth yn lleol i’r ardal) gwelwyd 2/3 o ddisgyblion ôl-16 hyd a lled y ddinas yn cofrestru yng Ngholeg Gŵyr Abertawe. Hefyd, yn dilyn cytundeb y Coleg yn 2016 i redeg darpariaeth prentisiaeth y Cyngor, mae’r Coleg wedi gweithio gyda chyflogwyr a Llywodraeth Cymru er mwyn cynyddu’r gyllideb ar gyfer y ddarpariaeth o £1.7m (250 o brentisiaid) yn 2016 i £7.1m (2,500 o brentisiaid) heddiw.

Gwelwyd cynydd o 50% mewn cofrestriadau Addysg Uwch (Lefel 4 ac uwch), gyda chofrestriadau rhyngwladol hefyd yn cynyddu. Mae bron i 50 o grwpiau o ddisgyblion ysgol yn mynychu’r Coleg yn wythnosol i dderbyn hyfforddiant mewn pynciau megis trin gwallt a thirlunio, ac mae £6m o gyllid Ewropeaidd eisoes wedi ei sicrhau (dros y tair blynedd nesaf) i redeg darpariaeth cyflogadwyedd yng nghanol y ddinas fydd yn cynnig cymorth a chyngor i oedolion di-waith sy’n ceisio cyflogaeth.

Mae’r cyfraddau llwyddo ar gyfer cyrsiau Safon Uwch, rhaglenni galwedigaethol a fframweithiau prentisiaeth yn parhau i ragori ar y cyfraddau cyfartalog cenedlaethol, gyda chanlyniadau llawer o’r cyrsiau yn y chwartel uchaf o ran perfformiad.

2. Arwr Tawel WorldSkills (arweinydd y cwricwlwm ar gyfer Peirianneg Electronig,
Steve Williams)

Trwy wreiddio dulliau o wella sgiliau ym mhob agwedd ar gwricwlwm ei adran, mae Steve Williams yn ymgorffori ac yn enghreifftio rhesymeg cystadlaethau WorldSkills.

Fel Rheolwr Hyfforddiant Sgiliau DU, mae Steve yn hyfforddi ac yn datblygu cystadleuwyr o sefydliadau ledled y DU, ac mae rhai o’i lwyddiannau hyd yma yn cynnwys: ennill medalau Aur ac Arian yng nghystadlaethau Sgiliau Cymru dros y pedair blynedd olynol ddiwethaf; medal Aur yng nghystadleuaeth Sgiliau DU 2018 yn ogystal â medal Efydd yng nghystadleuaeth Sgiliau DU 2017.

Mae pedwar o fyfyrwyr Steve hefyd ar fin cynrychioli Cymru a’r DU fel rhan o garfan WorldSkills Shanghai 2021.

3. Defnydd rhagorol o dechnoleg er mwyn gwella addysgu, dysgu ac asesu
Yn 2017, achubodd Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe’r blaen ar ddatblygu diagnostig asesu ar-lein cyntaf y DU ar gyfer asesu llythrennedd, rhifedd a sgiliau meddal. Cynlluniwyd y diagnostig yn benodol ar gyfer asesu myfyrwyr ag anghenion dysgu dwys ac ychwanegol.

Sbardun y prosiect oedd gweithwyr proffesiynol o fewn y maes Sgiliau Byw’n Annibynnol, Llywodraeth Cymru ac Estyn, a oedd yn cydnabod yr angen am asesiad dibynadwy a thrwyadl a fyddai’n mesur gallu myfyrwyr ar draws amrywiaeth o sgiliau gwybyddol a bywyd. Mae’r offeryn asesu hwn yn cynhyrchu targedau ystyrlon sy’n canolbwyntio ar yr unigolyn ac yn diwallu ei anghenion, gan ei herio i gyflawni ei botensial llawn. Mae’r offeryn hefyd yn ffordd dda o fesur cyrhaeddiad yr unigolyn.

Yna, oherwydd galw parhaus y diwydiant i ddatblygu sgiliau’r prentisiaid hyd at lefel gradd, negododd y Coleg gytundeb â Phrifysgol Abertawe a fyddai’n caniatau i Brentisiaid Uwch llwyddiannus symud ymlaen i ail flwyddyn Rhaglen Cemeg i israddedigion.

Mewn ymgais i ddatblygu prentisiaid ‘y tu hwnt i’r maes llafur’, mae’r Coleg hefyd wedi gweithio mewn partneriaeth â chyflogwyr er mwyn datblygu meddalwedd sy’n gwella galluoedd prentisiaid i geisio datrys cyfrifiadau mewn labordai. Fel unig Goleg cysylltiol y Gymdeithas Frenhinol yng Nghymru, mae Coleg Gŵyr Abertawe ar hyn o bryd yn cydweithio â’r Gymdeithas Ystadegau Frenhinol a’r Sefydliad Dur a Metel (SaMI) ar astudiaeth beilot a fydd yn galluogi prentisiaid i ymweld â SaMI i ddadansoddi data amrwd.

“Rwy’n falch iawn bod y gwobrau hyn yn cydnabod y lefel uchel a chyson o addysgu a chymorth y mae’r Coleg yn ei ddarparu ar draws ystod eang o raglenni,” meddai’r Pennaeth, Mark Jones. “Mae’r rhaglenni hyn yn cael eu datblygu’n gyson i ddiwallu anghenion amrywiol ein dysgwyr. Hoffwn ddiolch i staff addysgu a staff cymorth y Coleg am eu hymroddiad a’u dawn.”

We are a news channel providing the latest Further Education News, giving insight from multiple sources on the latest education policy developments, latest strategies, through to our thought leaders who provide blue sky thinking strategy, best practice and innovation to help look into the future developments for education and the future of work.

In Jan 2021, FE News had over 173,000 unique visitors according to Google Analytics and over 200 new pieces of news content every week, from thought leadership articles, to the latest education news via written word, podcasts, video to press releases from across the sector, putting us in the top 2,000 websites in the UK.

We thought it would be helpful to explain how we tier our latest education news content and how you can get involved and understand how you can read the latest daily Further Education news and how we structure our FE Week of content:

Main Features

Our main features are exclusive and are thought leadership articles and blue sky thinking with experts writing peer to peer news articles about the future of education and the future of work. The focus is solution led thought leadership, sharing best practice, innovation and emerging strategy. These are often articles about the future of education and the future of work, they often then create future education news articles. We limit our main features to a maximum of 20 per week, as they are often about new concepts and new thought processes. Our main features are also exclusive articles responding to the latest education news, maybe an insight from an expert into a policy announcement or response to an education think tank report or a white paper.

FE Voices

FE Voices was originally set up as a section on FE News to give a voice back to the sector. As we now have over 3,000 newsrooms and contributors, FE Voices are usually thought leadership articles, they don’t necessarily have to be exclusive, but usually are, they are slightly shorter than Main Features. FE Voices can include more mixed media with the Further Education News articles, such as embedded podcasts and videos. Our sector response articles asking for different comments and opinions to education policy announcements or responding to a report of white paper are usually held in the FE Voices section. If we have a live podcast in an evening or a radio show such as SkillsWorldLive radio show, the next morning we place the FE podcast recording in the FE Voices section.

Sector News

In sector news we have a blend of content from Press Releases, education resources, reports, education research, white papers from a range of contributors. We have a lot of positive education news articles from colleges, awarding organisations and Apprenticeship Training Providers, press releases from DfE to Think Tanks giving the overview of a report, through to helpful resources to help you with delivering education strategies to your learners and students.

We have a range of education podcasts on FE News, from hour long full production FE podcasts such as SkillsWorldLive in conjunction with the Federation of Awarding Bodies, to weekly podcasts from experts and thought leaders, providing advice and guidance to leaders. FE Newsrooms

The FE Newsroom is home to your content if you are a FE News contributor. It also help the audience develop relationship with either you as an individual or your organisation as they can click through and ‘box set’ consume all of your previous thought leadership articles, latest education news press releases, videos and education podcasts.

Do you want to contribute, share your ideas or vision or share a press release?

If you want to write a thought leadership article, share your ideas and vision for the future of education or the future of work, write a press release sharing the latest education news or contribute to a podcast, first of all you need to set up a FE Newsroom login (which is free): once the team have approved your newsroom (all content, newsrooms are all approved by a member of the FE News team- no robots are used in this process!), you can then start adding content (again all articles, videos and podcasts are all approved by the FE News editorial team before they go live on FE News). As all newsrooms and content are approved by the FE News team, there will be a slight delay on the team being able to review and approve content.
