Gower College Swansea exam results 2020

Students at Gower College Swansea are celebrating an overall A Level pass rate of 99%, with 1255 separate exam entries.

Of these passes, 34% were at grades A*-A, 61% were at A*-B and 85% were at A*-C.

The overall pass rate at AS Level was 91%, with 66% of those passes being grades A – C and 43% being grades A – B. There were 2610 separate exam entries for AS.

The College’s vocational results are also strong again this year with a 99% pass rate across Level 3 Extended Diplomas. An impressive 64% of these students achieved at least one Distinction.

After what has been a particularly challenging academic year, the College is delighted with these exam results.

There has once again been great success at the higher grades, with 30 of our students achieving straight A* across the board. 127 students gained straight A*-A grades and there was also a 3% improvement across A*-C.

Around 1000 of our students will now progress to university, including all 12 students who have achieved the necessary grades to secure their places at Oxford and Cambridge.

“Once again I’m really pleased with our results which have continued to show an improvement year after year,” says Principal Mark Jones. “I’m so proud of our students and our staff who have worked tirelessly to adapt to this new method of assessment and grading. The fact that last year’s excellent results have this year been bettered once again evidences, for me, the level of trust that the different examination bodies have in the work of staff within the College, and it is clearly excellent news for both our current students and for our new students joining us this September.”

“I’m also particularly proud of our students and staff this year because they’ve had to adapt to the most unprecedented of circumstances. Throughout lockdown, we have worked really hard as a College to make the transition to online learning as smooth as possible, and have ensured that all learners have the right levels of support in place. I hope they can now finally relax a bit and look forward to the next stage of their journey.”
