Students at City of London Academy Highbury Grove secure places at university

Pupils @CityofLondon Academy Highbury Grove have secured places at top universities following this year’s #ALevelResults 

Sara Pelham secured four A* grades and will read Modern Foreign Languages at the University of Oxford.

Mia Meade who achievedA*A*A will read Languages, Cultures and International relations at the University of Leeds and Muhammed Omar will read Physics at University College London having achieved A*AA.

Jessica Kappy passed with three A’s and will be studying Medicine at the University of Oxford.Jessica has successfully applied for the Rothschild and Co Bursary to support her during her time at university. The bursary is designed to support London-based students attending Russell Group universities, supporting them with tuition fees to ensure that they can take up their university offers.

Jamie Travers gained AAB and will be going to the University of Bath to study Criminology, while his twin sister Leyla Travers got AAB and will be reading Psychology at the University of Loughborough.

Aimee Lyall, Principal at the City of London Academy Highbury Grove, said:

“For the past five months staff and students at the City of London Academy Highbury Grove have demonstrated huge courage and determination in the face of extremely challenging circumstances.

“The closures of schools meant we all had to find new ways of working. Without the support, guidance and sheer dedication of our pupils, teachers and parents, an already testing situation would have been made even more difficult.

“I am proud of the way in which teachers, staff and students quickly adapted, and today is a reflection of their hard work.

“I wish all our students the very best of luck in the next phase of their lives.”

The City of London Academy Highbury Grove, based in Islington, is managed as part of the City of London Academies Trust, which runs the City of London Corporation’s sole sponsored academies.

I am delighted for the success of our students in what has been a very challenging year. Congratulations to all staff, students and parents.”

“Today’s A-Level results, although different to previous years, are a reflection of the hard work and effort that our students and teachers have put in throughout the academic year.
