Coventry College lands Government-backed accreditation

@CoventryCollege has landed an international and Government-backed accreditation for its approach to supporting staff and students.

The city’s leading further education provider has been awarded the Department for Education’s (DfE) Matrix Standard by The Growth Company on the DfE’s behalf, which benchmarks organisations against best practice in areas such as leadership, resources, service delivery and continuous quality improvement.

Following an in-depth assessment, Coventry College met the required standard in areas including student recruitment, schools liaison, personal development and wellbeing, careers advisors, routes to ambition, learner finance, involvement & engagement, marketing, and apprenticeship sales.

Carol Thomas, Principal and CEO at Coventry College, said: “This accreditation is a big vote of confidence in our staff’s efforts to help shape the futures of thousands of young people who pass through our doors every year.

“As a College we place great focus on personalising the learning experience for our students based on their needs and abilities in order for them to reach their potential – a great deal of which requires a lot of planning and team work behind the scenes.

“The way we deliver our information and advice to both staff and students is more important than ever during the current climate as we look to strike the right blend of virtual and face-to-face learning, and we will be continually reviewing our work alongside the Matrix Standard to maintain a high quality experience for both our staff and students as we head into the 2020/21 academic year.”

News of the accreditation came just days after another landmark achievement which saw Coventry College recording record GCSE results for the third year in a row.

Roger Chapman, Head of the Matrix Service for The Growth Company said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Coventry College and I would like to congratulate the team on their success.

“We believe that at the heart of high-quality advice and support services are strong leadership, excellent service and a focus on continuous improvement, all underpinned by effective use of the resources available.

“The Matrix Standard is designed to benchmark organisations against best practice in these areas. With their accreditation success, Coventry College is working to provide the best possible support to their clients.”
