Line-up announced for SET’s annual conference on 4 November 2020

The line-up for the third national conference from the Society for Education and Training (@SocietyET), has been announced. The conference from the professional membership body for those working across further education, vocational teaching and training, on 4 November 2020, will be held online for the first time under the theme Learning for Today and Tomorrow.

Hosted by TES Columnist and #UKFEchat host Sarah Simons, SET Conference 2020 aims to provide Continuous Professional Development (CPD) support and practical guidance for the Further Education (FE) and Training sector’s teachers, trainers and educators.

SET Conference 2020 will be filled with digital breakouts, high profile keynote speakers, and the opportunity to connect with speakers and delegates through live Q&As – all from the comfort of your home or workplace. Confirmed keynote speakers include:  

• Jo Fletcher-Saxon, Assistant Principal at Ashton Sixth Form College, and Sam Jones, Advanced Practitioner at Bedford College, on: The story so far, the story as yet untold
• Priya Lakhani OBE, Founder and CEO of CENTURY, on: How artificial intelligence will impact teaching and learning
• Geoff Petty, author and teacher, on: Teaching Skills – attainment today, flexibility tomorrow
• Palvinder Singh, Group Deputy Principal NCG, Kidderminster College, on: The social consciousness of the further education sector.

The digital breakout sessions based on the theme of the day, Learning for Today and Tomorrow, will allow for more detailed discussion and learning on a range of pedagogical fields. Breakouts will cover the following topics:

• Mental Health and Wellbeing
• Digital Tech in Teaching
• T Levels
• Diversity and Inclusion
• Leadership
• English
• Maths
• SEND

Last year more than 300 professionals from across the sector came to the SET conference held in Birmingham. Due to current circumstances, this year’s conference will be completely online, with sessions accessible on-demand after the event for those who can’t attend live to catch up. With the move online for 2020, SET anticipate at least as many delegates joining the virtual event on the day.

The day will celebrate professionals from across our sector, showcase inspirational work, and promote the FE workforce’s valuable contribution to society.
