From education to employment

Theatre students head for top drama school

Four recent Theatre Production Arts graduates from Gower College Swansea have arrived in Bristol to take up their places at the prestigious Old Vic Theatre School.

Abbi Davies, Susannah Pearce, Matthew Newcombe and Lewis Bamford will start their Production Arts (Stage and Screen) and Costume for Theatre, TV and Film courses this month.

Also joining them will be Chris Monks, who studied Theatre Production Arts at the Gorseinon Campus eight years ago. After leaving College, Chris worked in catering and was a successful chef both in the UK and in New Zealand before deciding to return to his first love – the theatre.

“We are especially delighted with the success of our Class of 2020 who had to cope with some really challenging circumstances,” says Curriculum Leader for Theatre Production and Performing Arts, Adrian Hocking. “Over three quarters of this group of students have now gone to continue their studies at university or drama college.

“I’m also so pleased to see Chris return to the theatre and gain a place at Bristol Old Vic. We wish them all the best.”
