College achieves top support accreditation

Gower College Swansea are proud to have achieved the Quality Standard Carers Support (QSCS) accreditation from the Carers Federation for the high level of support itoffers young adult carers. The QSCS will help to raise awareness, remove some of the barriers for carers, develop appropriate policies and procedures and improve access to support.

This year’s difficulties and demands have been unprecedented for students and so it is important to applaud the efforts of the Student Support Team and this award demonstrates their good practice within the College.

Speaking about the accreditation, Student Support Officer Ryan McCarley said: “This support we provide can be just having someone to talk to or can be someone helping you solve any problems you may have as a result of your caring responsibilities. Whatever support you need, we will do our best to help.”

The support for young adult carers is confidential and provided by our Student Support Officers with any relevant external agencies. If you are a student who cares for a family member or friend and would like to find out more on how we can help, please drop in to see us or email [email protected] or [email protected].
