Join the Cardiff and Vale College Family and go on a Wellbeing Walk for Velindre

Wellbeing Walk for Velindre

Staff and students from Cardiff and Vale College (@CAVC) have been going on Welfare Walks to raise money for Velindre Cancer Centre (@VelindreCC).

In September 2019 the College set out a commitment to raise money for Velindre through various events throughout the 2019-20 academic year. Unfortunately, the onset of the pandemic meant that these communal fundraisers were unable to take place so CAVC wasn’t able to do as much as it hoped.

Which is why the College hit on the idea of taking a Wellbeing Walk for Velindre during the 14th-18th December. The Wellbeing Walk allows people to take some time out of their working week for themselves while also raising funds for an important charity in the runup to Christmas.

College staff and students are choosing a time during their week to step outside and take a stroll and then make a small donation to Velindre. Some staff have started already; within an hour of the JustGiving page going live more than £100 had already been donated. CAVC Principal Kay Martin said:

“Velindre is a charity very close to our hearts here at the College and we were disappointed that we couldn’t hold fundraising events for them this year on the scale we would have liked. That’s why we came up with the Welfare Walk – a chance for the CAVC Family to take some well deserved time for themselves and their households, get some fresh air and exercise and raise money for this wonderful charity.”
