The Industry Insights element of the @E_T_Foundation’s (ETF) T Level Professional Development (TLPD) offer has evolved due to Covid-19, and now offers teachers, business support staff, middle managers and leaders the option to complete virtual placements and training.

The programme provides staff involved in the delivery of T Levels with the opportunity to develop new skills and increase knowledge by undertaking a range of activities within industry. The offer now includes the following components:

  • Work shadowing and work placements
  • New virtual placements, including virtual work shadowing
  • New industry mentoring, where participants are matched to a mentor from a specific industry aligned to their T Level delivery
  • New group industry collaboration, virtual sessions between an employer and several T Level providers
  • Industry workshops, meet an employer or industry specialist to engage in demonstrations and Q&A sessions
  • Employer Partnerships and Industry Insights online course, learn practical approaches to improve industry sector knowledge and employer engagement practices.

Tim Bevans, Director of Regional Engagement, said: “The significant impact of Covid-19 across education and industry has understandably limited opportunities for staff to engage with industry providers. We have worked with employers to evolve and adapt our Industry Insights programme and I’m very pleased we can now offer online and virtual industry experiences for staff involved in the delivery of T Levels.

“We are committed to supporting the sector throughout the pandemic and ensuring that we continually adapt our programmes to ensure they meet current circumstances and keep people safe.”

Courses are targeted at teachers, trainers, business support staff, and operational middle leaders and managers delivering T Levels and are bookable through the T Level Professional Development Platform.

The ETF, the expert body for professional development and standards in FE across England, has been supporting the delivery of T Levels since 2019. In February 2020, the ETF was awarded a four-year contract by the Department for Education to continue to support providers, leaders and practitioners to deliver the new courses.
