From education to employment

Southwark College gears up for National Apprenticeship Week

@SouthwarkCollege will be running a series of online events to celebrate #NationalApprenticeshipsWeek 2021 from Monday 8 till 14 February. The events will include Virtual Roadshows and a Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair to spread the word about apprenticeships and the many benefits these recognised qualifications offer.

Principal Annette Cast said: “In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has never been a more important time to support apprenticeships and the wonderful benefits they offer. While we have not been able to host events on campus this has not dampened our passion and enthusiasm and we look forward to bringing you our Virtual Roadshow and Virtual Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair instead.

“We hope these events inspire people to re-engage with education and show them another path to achieving their career aspirations.”

Virtual Roadshow

The Virtual Roadshow will run from Monday 8 till Friday 12 February, where participating schools will be offered a series of online presentations covering information about apprenticeships, myth-busting sessions, tips, and much more.

To register your school for a session, email [email protected].

Virtual Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair

Southwark College’s Employability Hub will run the fair on Tuesday 9 February in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions. At the event, attendees will be able to meet local employers recruiting for jobs and apprenticeships, book CV and Interview Skills sessions, and learn about financial support schemes.

An apprenticeship is a nationally recognised qualification that gives learners the chance to earn a wage while studying and learn practical skills on the job. These qualifications can open many doors for students and provide another path for learners who prefer a practical approach to learning and achieving their career ambitions.
