Cambridge Regional College (@CRC_College) has partnered with the Mexican National Council of Science and Technology to develop English language skills among indigenous young women.

The Political Constitution of Mexican States is committed to improving educational achievements among young people and this commitment is extended to include the education of indigenous young women through grants and benefits, with the Mexican Federal Government recently announcing the sponsorship of 11 places on an English Immersion Programme.

With the support of global educational agency, You Can Learn, the National Council was partnered with Cambridge Regional College to strengthen the academic training and English language development of young female scholars from Campeche, Hopelchen, Calkini, Hecelchakan, Escarcega and Medrida Yucatan.

The English Immersion Programme has been designed to improve the general standard of English of students so they can communicate effectively, supporting their future studies. Learners will explore English grammar, speaking, reading and listening in this 4-week online programme. The latest cohort of Mexican students began their studies at the beginning of February and will receive their certification upon completion of the programme at the end of the month.

Cecilia Fisher, ESOL Manager said,

“We have designed the course in a way that suits the students’ needs, ensuring that they find it useful and enjoyable. Students will learn about the UK while practicing their English skills to fill in the gaps in their existing knowledge. We have enjoyed welcoming our Mexican learners to the program!”
