Jingting Li was born and raised in China and after two years of studying at Zhengzhou Middle School in her hometown, she made the decision to move to England. With a long-term goal of attending university, Jingting needed to further her studies to follow her desired pathway.

Having researched the options for undergraduate studies, Jingting discovered the one-year Access to Higher Education programme for international students at Cambridge Regional College. The ability to gain the necessary qualifications in just one year is what appealed most to Jingting, so she enrolled on the Access to HE Business course at CRC while taking her GCSE Maths and following the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) at the same time.

Jingting said, “The experience was great and definitely exceeded my expectations. All the teachers were very professional and friendly, and my classmates were easy-going. Both the Access and GCSE courses have helped me a lot in preparing for higher education. Without this foundation, my degree would have been very difficult.”

Upon graduating from CRC, Jingting progressed to Bath University to study having secured 42 distinctions out of a possible 45 in her Access course and 9 in her GCSE maths.

Jingting added, “If you are considering what to do next, look at what you want to achieve and then work out how best to get there. If higher education is the goal, then a solid foundation will really set you up to succeed.”
