Loughborough College fundraisers hit £2,500 mark for Comic Relief

Students and staff at Loughborough College (@Lborocollege) have raised more than £2,500 for @ComicRelief after holding a virtual 24-hour sportathon.

The entire College community rallied to take part in a range of sports and activities from their own homes with the aim of raising at least £1,000 for charity on Friday, 19th March.

Organiser Danny Lee, Curriculum Manager Sport at Loughborough College, organised the event. He said: “We’re exhausted but thrilled to have raised so much for Comic Relief. We set ourselves a £1,000 target, so to surpass it is fantastic. I’d like to say a huge thanks to everyone who either participated or donated. Everyone has played their part.”

Participants took part in a range of virtual sessions throughout the day including boxing, Irish dancing, soccercise, HIIT, walking, dog walking, gymnastics, stair-walking, silent discos, computer game tournaments and a 24-hour bike ride relay, streamed live by the College to students and staff.

Funds raised by Comic Relief are directed to a range of initiatives including helping provide safety to families who need support, tackling mental health stigma, taking action against domestic abuse and helping to give children a brighter future.
