The University of Law and Newcastle University announce exclusive partnership to support the next generation of legal professionals

The University of Law (ULaw) has announced an exclusive partnership with Newcastle University to deliver specialised postgraduate legal training courses at the leading Russell Group institution’s Law School.

From September 2021, ULaw’s Legal Practice Course (LPC) will be available as a full-time and part-time study option for students with law degrees who wish to progress towards becoming qualified solicitors.

For non-law graduates wishing to progress onto the LPC or BPTC, ULaw’s Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) and MA Law courses will also be available from September 2021 as a full-time study option hosted by Newcastle Law School.

Students enrolling on ULaw programmes in Newcastle for September 2021 will be awarded a £500 launch discount.

ULaw will also lead the roll out of the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) preparation courses, which will help students develop their legal knowledge and skills beyond the requirements of the assessment and preparing them for life in legal practice.

ULaw’s reputation and expertise in market leading legal education will provide students with access to established courses that will prepare them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the legal profession. The partnership will serve to complement the existing legal education offering from Newcastle Law School.

Professor Nigel Harkness, Pro Vice Chancellor for the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Newcastle University, said:

“The University of Law and Newcastle University share a passionate commitment to delivering an outstanding educational experience that connects with a wide range of alumni, firms and businesses, and which enables students to fulfil their potential and realise their ambition. It is great to see this new partnership that will entail the University of Law working closely with our Law School and which also advances our University guiding principles of working together, visibly leading and providing freedom and opportunity to succeed. I am keen to see the next generation of lawyers enter legal practice as a result of this new partnership.”

The Head of Newcastle Law School, Dr Jonathan Galloway, added:

“Newcastle is a globally engaged Law School, rooted in its local community, that supports our students to develop strong transferable skills essential for their future professional career. I am delighted by this new strategic partnership with the University of Law, which complements our research-led teaching and the development of practical legal skills through our LL.B. degrees. The University of Law shares our commitment to education of the highest quality and provides an outstanding student experience. We are excited to be working with our new partners as the changes brought about by the introduction of the SQE take effect.”

Professor Andrea Nollent, Vice-Chancellor & CEO at The University of Law, said:

“We are thrilled to announce the news of this exclusive partnership with Newcastle University and continue to offer increased access to first-class legal education for aspiring legal professionals.
