Publisher Pearson Education selects XPO Logistics, creating new distribution jobs in the UK
Today, (11 May) XPO Logistics has announced that it has won a UK contract with a new customer, @Pearson Education, to distribute courseware and assessment materials in the UK.
The contract creates 40 full-time jobs in Merlin Park, Birmingham, supported by agency colleagues during peak trading periods.
British-based Pearson is a leading provider of educational materials, e-learning programmes and assessment services for schools, corporations, students and clinicians in 70 countries.
By relocating distribution from Belgium to the UK with XPO Logistics, Pearson will shorten lead times for customer deliveries while gaining greater visibility and seasonal flexibility.
Also, a proportion of the books are printed in the UK, the new location will eliminate handling costs to and from the EU for UK customers.
