From education to employment

Continued progression for Charlotte

We recently caught up with former Criminal Justice student, Charlotte, who graduated from the College with a foundation degree in July 2020.

Having always been passionate about criminology, Charlotte decided to study the course at Gower College Swansea because of the extra support the College provides.

“I decided to study at Gower College Swansea because I didn’t quite feel ready for university,” says Charlotte. “I knew one of the lecturers delivering the course, so I was certain I would be properly supported. The course gave me the skills necessary to advance my career in criminology after leaving the College.”

One of Charlotte’s favourite things about studying at the College was the people she met, including her lecturers who made her feel comfortable.

“Without the College, I never would have met these people,” says Charlotte. “I truly believe we will be friends for life. I also really liked the way the lecturers delivered the course; they did it in a professional, yet laid back, way making me feel comfortable and like I could approach them at any time.”

Since leaving the College, Charlotte has gone on to progress further.

“I would definitely recommend this course to others,” says Charlotte. “This course has led me on to completing the full Criminology degree at the University of South Wales. Also, I have recently been offered a job interview for an Insight Unit Researcher role with South Wales Police.”

Anyone wishing to follow in Charlotte’s footsteps can apply for the Foundation Degree in Criminal Justice at Gower College Swansea.

This course will provide a clear progression route for Level 3 learners who have studied Criminology and related fields. This is an ideal programme for learners who wish to study in a small, supported environment.
