ETF Impact Report: The key to improving education and training is to support teachers and their leaders to excel

The Education and Training Foundation (@E_T_Foundation) has released its first annual Impact Report for the 2019–2020 financial year.

As the expert body for professional development and standards in Further Education (FE) across England, the ETF’s role is to design, develop and deliver Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for teachers, leaders, and trainers to support government policy and meet sector needs. The report draws together evidence of the impact of the ETF’s workforce development programmes, focussing on changes to professional practice, organisational performance, and learner outcomes. This report enhances the ETF’s evidence base to inform CPD programme development.

Based on independent analysis by SQW economic and social development consultants, the Impact Report builds on the 2019–20 Public Benefit Report, published in December 2020.

Using statistics and case studies, the report showcases the impact our CPD programmes and membership body, the Society for Education and Training (SET), have made across the FE and Training sector, including:

  • offering professional development opportunities throughout England
  • achieving consistently high participant satisfaction feedback
  • supporting research practice, collaboration and dissemination
  • influencing quality improvement and organisational development
  • giving professionals the courage and confidence to excel.

david russell 100x100David Russell, Chief Executive of the Education and Training Foundation, said:

“At the ETF, everything we do is for the benefit of learners. We believe that the key to improving education and training is to support teachers and their leaders to excel. This principle drives all our activity and sits at the heart of the strategic objectives that structure this report.

“Independent analysis of evaluation reports, management reports and performance data for two dozen workforce development programmes shows very positive progress towards these objectives. I am proud of what we have achieved working with our partners and the FE and Training sector, with the Government’s backing. These findings will help the ETF evolve to further support the FE sector’s workforce and continue to deliver benefits for society.”
