Applications open for ETF EDI leadership project funding

Applications are now open for Education and Training Foundation (@E_T_Foundation) funding for ten projects to support a pipeline of managers and leaders in FE that represent the diversity of learners in the sector.

During 2021–22, ETF will match-fund 10 projects, at £6,800 each, to explore and address specific EDI issues in FE providers. This is a new element of the ETF’s work to support diversity in the sector. Learning from these projects will be disseminated to the wider sector and inform ETF’s future diversity activity, including a pilot activity this year, in which senior leaders and governors will be brought together to develop an organisational diversity strategy.

The projects, which should be delivered between 1 September and 31 January 2022, are expected to:

  • investigate and tackle challenges and barriers that prevent aspiring, middle and senior leaders with Protected Characteristics progressing in their careers
  • explore the development of an inclusive curriculum including the promotion of diverse academics and scientists so learners see themselves reflected in their learning
  • be sustainable
  • model effective practice that can be disseminated to the sector.

At the end of their projects, participants will be required to report on the EDI challenge they were addressing, the activities they undertook, what went well and what lessons were learned, how the project is sustainable, and the effective practice from the project that can be rolled out to the rest of the sector.
