From education to employment

£2million transformation begins at WQE College

A major transformation has begun at WQE College (@WQECollege), with the extensive refurbishments and remodelling of both campuses.

The £2million project will see the Leicester-based Sixth Form College revamp parts of its Regent Road campus, relocate and upgrade classrooms as well as specialist facilities at both campuses to showcase and enhance curriculum areas.

The transformation follows the College’s successful launch of the J Building – a specialist building at the University Road campus which hosts Media and Creative Arts courses, complete with workshops, an art gallery, dance and music studios to nurture the talent of creative students.

The current project includes the creation of two new science labs with preparation rooms, four new computing rooms, new staff rooms within curriculum areas and remodelling of art studios at University Road. In the neighbouring Regent Road campus, classrooms for Business, Economics & Finance will be relocated, as well as Science and Computing labs remodelled.

WQE College has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence, with a 98.3% past rate. This transformation aims to maintain that by providing an improved learning and teaching environment.

Donna Trusler, Associate Principal at WQE College said:

“We are extremely pleased to be developing our large site further. This project will ensure that the student experience is greatly enhanced, offering more contemporary and university style accommodation, which has been designed specifically for the needs of our college students. The projects will provide both new and existing students with an impressive set of changes on their arrival.”

The project is due to complete for the start of teaching in in September 2021.
