The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Accounting for Growth are calling for evidence for a report into Apprenticeships and Skills: How to boost financial and professional skills in the UK.

The inquiry is set to explore how access can be improved to the financial and professional services, so it can make full use of the UK’s talent-base. The UK Government apprenticeships, Lifetime Skills Guarantee, and the Help to Grow schemes will be used to help the inquiry understand how they can be adapted to better meet the needs of the sector and wider UK economy.

This inquiry and the APPG is being supported by The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

Andrew Harding, FCMA, CGMA, Chief Executive – Management Accounting at The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants said:

“To be successful in the post-Brexit COVID world we must develop a culture of learning and innovation and embrace change – or risk being left behind. Finance professionals need to focus on driving business performance and productivity. We welcome this inquiry and look forward to supporting the process and the outcomes across both the financial and professional services sector.”

John Howell MP said:

“The pandemic has brought about challenges for many businesses and sectors and it is vital that public policy meets these challenges and helps put the UK economy on a good footing for economic recovery. This inquiry will explore what skills our economy needs as we come out of recovery and how the financial and professional services sector is supporting upskilling.”
