Atta impresses during prestigious work experience

Business student at Tameside College (@TamesideCollege) gets career off to a flying start, after taking part in prestigious work experience with leading construction firm.

Atta Ul-Rasool, a former Audenshaw School pupil and current Business student at the college, has successfully taken part in work experience with Willmott Dixon.

Willmott Dixon is one of the largest construction and development companies in the UK and has over 3,000 employees. The company are also currently constructing the college’s brand new Construction Skills Centre.

Atta impressed staff members whilst taking part in his work experience, which saw him working in a range of areas including; finance, social value, customer services, on Willmott Dixon’s site at the college and even working with the firm’s operations director.

Nicola Tyson-Lightfoot, social value manager at Wilmott Dixon, said:

“I had the pleasure of working with Atta during his work experience with the company. He is so enthusiastic and eager to learn new things. The feedback I have received from colleagues in other areas has also been very positive. It is refreshing to meet a young person full of passion like Atta.”

Work experience is a key component of vocational qualifications, allowing students to experience a real working environment and make decisions on their future careers.

Debbie Higginbottom, work experience recruitment officer at Tameside College, who sourced the placement for Atta, said:

“Atta has a fantastic attitude towards his work experience and college life in general. He is very hard working and has put in every effort to learn and develop. This work experience placement has given him direction towards a future career path and I can’t thank Willmott Dixon enough for taking the time to provide this to one of our students. Well done Atta.”

In the future, Atta hopes to qualify for the trainee programme with Willmott Dixon and go into a construction or site management career.
