Dr David Collins tackles FE leadership issues
FE News talks to Dr David Collins at the Association of Colleges conference.
He explains how clarking should be seen as a much more important role than it currently is, stating outlining how it is the glue between management, the board and the outside world.
According to Dr Collins, a lot of the college principals he has seen have been very specialist and have not had curriculum leadership skills alongside their financial skills. He believes there needs to be a balance of personnel in management in order to succeed and suggests mentorship programmes for new principals to find the skills gaps.
