College restaurant in finals of prestigious competition

The team at Trafford College’s Aspire Restaurant are celebrating after making it through to the finals of the AA College Restaurant of the Year competition for the second year running.

The team will now go up against 14 other college restaurants from around the UK in the final, which will be held on 20 June at the newly opened Principal London Hotel in Russell Square.

Each finalist will have 10 minutes to present to the judges a brief marketing plan, utilising their initial video submission, to increase the use of the college restaurant by local businesses and the local community, as well as completing a task set on the day. Students will also have a tour of the hotel and there will be a guest speaker.

Curriculum Leader for hospitality Matthew Shaw said: “I’m extremely pleased that we made it through to the next round of the competition. The students have done some fantastic work helping Aspire stand out as one of the leading hospitality departments in the UK.

“The video really demonstrates the passion both learners and lecturers have for their industry, and more significantly their customers. We hope this video acts as vehicle to drive new footfall through our doors while showcasing Aspire in all its glory.”
