Don’t miss out on these residential courses which are a great, one-off opportunity to help you navigate your way into the film industry.

Lasting between one and two weeks, and designed to develop more specialist filmmaking skills you will work closely with leading industry professionals who will give you a unique insight into the filmmaking business and guide you along the way.

Specialist Residential courses last for one week and develop filmmaking skills in a specialist area. Each residential course will focus on the complete craft and workflow of one of four different specialisms – animation, documentary, screenwriting, VFX – with leading industry professionals delivering masterclasses, practical skills training and bespoke careers advice.

This an intensive course running during the February half-term.

The Craft Skills Residential course delivered by the National Film and Television School (NFTS), is a two-week intensive course for 66 young people running over the Easter holidays in 2019.

Each participant will specialise in a particular craft, such as editing, cinematography or sound, and in groups of 11, make a short film on industry standard equipment, under the tuition of top industry professionals.

There are also two summer residential courses that are run in July and August. Details of these will be announced later in the year.

We welcome applications from talented young filmmakers from all backgrounds. The fee ranges from £0 to £420 for the Craft Skills course delivered by the National Film and Television School and £0 to £210 for all other residential courses, which includes accommodation and food.

There is a generous bursary scheme that ensures costs will not prevent any filmmaker from taking part – if you have the talent we will make sure you can attend.

The courses which will be run during the February 2019 half-term include; animation, screenwriting, documentary filmmaking  and animation and VFX. The Craft Skills residential course will run during Easter holidays for 66 young people and is delivered by the National Film and Television School.
