CoVE Awarded in new £500k Management Training Centre

The Leicestershire Learning and Skills Council has recognised the achievement of full status as a Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) by South Leicestershire College with the award of a plaque to be displayed at the Colleges new £0.5.million state-of-the-art management training centre. The new building at the Colleges Wigston campus will house the CoVE in Supervisory Management Skills. The centre will provide both a range of Institute of Leadership and Management qualifications and bespoke short courses for the local business community.
Lowell Williams, Principal of South Leicestershire College says: “The Colleges management courses were recognised for their excellence in a recent Ofsted inspection. The creation of the new management training centre, which will be equipped to the highest specification throughout, will make the learning experience even better.
The LSCs CoVE initiative aims to develop a nationally co-ordinated network of learning centres comprising a strategic mix of high quality local, regional sectoral national specialisms to directly address skills shortages.
David Nelson, Executive Director, Leicestershire LSC says: “The South Leicestershire CoVE together with those at Leicester College and Loughborough College means that we are well on the way to developing a network of centres in Leicestershire to provide the modern vocational skills needed by the local economy.”I am particularly encouraged by the greater involvement of employers in these centres. Together we are helping to shape a vocational provision that will ensure that Leicestershire employers have a workforce that can compete with the best in the world.”
Leicester College has CoVE status for print skills and Loughborough College has CoVE status for sports science, exercise and fitness.
